IPv4 Address Exhaustion

IPv4 address space is being used up as the Internet continues to grow. There are various estimates of how long it will take to use the remaining space but most observers accept that during 2011 the last IPv4 addresses will be allocated from the free pool available.

If you're planning a major network rollout in the immediate future have you factored IPv6 addressing into your plans? If not you should!

This counter gives an indication of the remaining space:

Are you ready?

MV Torr Head

I did two trips from Ireland across the Atlantic on this ship in 1969. We sailed through the St Laurence Seaway and the Welland Canal as far as Chicago with stops in Detroit, Cleveland, Toronto, Quebec and Montreal. She predated containerisation but had been fitted to carry some containers as well as general cargo. We seemed to carry mainly whisky and whiskey to North America and beans on the way home. I'm sure she's long gone.

Ballyscully

I play music in a band with some great guys. Here we are on St Pat's Day in Wellington, New Zealand. You can see more about us at http://ballyscully.com/
We sometimes wear trousers too
